Morning Message

Every morning we read our "Morning Message". We have a reader (the lunch star from the previous day) and a helper that read the morning message. We then re-read the morning message together as a class. Then we go back through the morning message and circle sight words and punctuation marks.

Christmas Tree Cones

We finished off our last school day in 2010 by making
Christmas trees out of sugar cones, frosting and candy.

Pajama Day (Polar Express)

We wore our Pajamas to school and read the book,
The Polar Express.

Christmas Wish Lists for Santa

In writing we have been discussing the importance of making lists. Before making our Christmas wish list for Santa we practiced making lists of sight words, colors, animals and a grocery list. We listened very carefully and followed directions to construct our Santas. After making our Santas we discussed what we wanted for Christmas and made our Christmas wish lists. I was quite surprised at how many Kindergarten students want iPhones and iPods for Christmas (too cute!).

A Week of Festive Hats

This week we made connections with the stories we read. We made those connections by making hats that correlated with each story. We had a lot of fun making these festive hats. We will make our final holiday hat when we return in January- A New Year hat!

Candy Cane Bead Patterns

We used beads to create a patterned candy cane.
(ABC pattern- red, green & white beads)
